LUTHER'S SEAL
The black cross in the heart reminds us that faith in the Crucified saves us. The white rose indicates that faith gives joy, comfort and peace. White is also the color of the spirits and the angels. The sky-blue field symbolizes a beginning of the heavenly future joy, grasped in hope, not yet revealed. Around this field is a golden ring, which stands for the blessedness of heaven, which lasts forever and has no end. (Explanation condensed from Luther's letter to Lazarus Spengler, July 8, 1530)
